This is Yeonkyu Choi, Narrative Director of Genesis War.

With the upcoming global launch, I am truly delighted to greet you all for the first time in this way.

I have been involved in the development of The War of Genesis series since the 1990s, including The War of Genesis, The War of Genesis II, The War of Genesis III, as well as various side story titles.

For Genesis War, I am serving as the Narrative Director, overseeing the overall story.

The War of Genesis is one of Korea’s most iconic story-driven SRPG series. It goes beyond a simple tale of heroes, portraying the rise and fall of an era, the choices of individuals, and the cycles of tragedy and hope that follow.

Now, through Genesis War, which brings together the entire series, we are able to share this story not only in Korea, but with Guardians around the world.

A Continuing Story, A World Reimagined

Genesis War is not simply a remake or a restoration.

What we've set out to create is a reinterpretation.

While preserving the emotions, characters, and narrative depth of the original, we aimed to present them anew through a modern perspective and approach.

Our guiding direction has been clear. Meeting characters, following their stories, and coming to understand the world through them. We want this journey itself to be at the heart of the game.

Combat is only a part of the story, not the whole of it.

Genesis War is designed to be a journey through a single, unfolding narrative.

Where the Story Begins

The Main Story of this title begins in the era of The War of Genesis I and II, during the period known as the War of Genesis.

Players will journey alongside the protagonist Iyolin and G.S., moving through a time of great upheaval as they encounter the choices and fates of many characters.

For longtime fans, this will feel familiar yet expanded. For those experiencing it for the first time, it will serve as a starting point to understand this world.

Launch Characters: Joan and Christian

For the start of the global service, we have chosen Joan and Christian as our featured characters. This decision was not based solely on combat performance or popularity. We placed great importance on the narrative significance these two characters carry.

Joan is a character who struggles between duty and faith, while Christian wrestles with identity and destiny. Through these two, the world of The War of Genesis connects to the unique concept of the Inner World in Genesis War.

The Inner World is another layer that exists beneath the surface of this world, a space where a grand project unfolds to resist humanity’s path toward destruction.

Through their stories, we aim to convey one of the defining themes of The War of Genesis series: the tension between the rise and fall of humanity as a whole and the fate of the individual.

About the Story Structure

For those experiencing it for the first time, allow me to briefly explain the narrative structure of Genesis War.

Main Story

This is the central narrative based on The War of Genesis I and II. The flow of the world, major events, and the stories of key characters all unfold along this axis.

Kosmos Saga (Inner World)

This is another layer of the story that exists alongside it. It explores the hidden truths behind the world and delves into deeper meanings.

If the Main Story represents “recorded history,” then the Kosmos Saga can be seen as “the truth behind it.” These two axes come together in different ways to complete a single world.

Looking Ahead

Going forward, Genesis War will continue to deliver new experiences through rich storytelling, characters with their own unique narratives, and a wide range of content that expands the world.

Through these Developer Notes, we hope to share not only update news, but also the process of building the story and the ideas behind it.
